Here's what you need to know before you invest in custom car rims.
If you're looking to spruce up your car, you don't need to look any further than H-town. Loads of car owners customize their cars to different aesthetics and styles to make them ENTIRELY their own. One of the most popular types of customization is custom wheel rims, with tons of different colors and styles available to choose from. However, there are other popular custom wheel choices that, simply said, just ain't happening.
For the money you're putting into these things custom options (which is a lot), you want to make sure that what you're getting back is not only stylish but also safe and won't affect the performance of your vehicle.
So how about good custom wheels, and where do you get them?
There are loads of ways to customize your wheel rims– I mean, the whole point is that you want your wheels to be made for YOU. So, your options are:
1. You can buy ready-made designs. 2. You can design your own and have them custom made. 3.You can personalize a ready-made rim- which is a happy medium between all three options. 4. The only thing stopping you when it comes to customization is your own imagination and, of course, the bolt holes. Sure, you want to have fun making your wheels look sick, but you're not going to get too far if you don't consider the position of your bolt holes.
Here are some simple steps for customizing your rims.
Draw a circle on a piece of paper using a compass. Mark the bolt holes' position: draw circles that indicate where the bolt holes need to be. Do some research into what you want your rims to look like. (This is where the fun part happens. You'll find tons of inspiration for designs online. But always remember to keep your bolt holes in mind) Draw your design: Be sure to draw your design neatly using a pencil and ruler—shade in any areas you want to be cut away. 5. Consider if you want to add color to your custom rim.
Okay, but where do I go to install custom rims?
To have your design cut and your custom rims made, you'll need to find a lathe operator in Houston with plenty of experience creating custom rims, someone who really knows what they're doing. But keep this in mind, some second-hand car dealerships or garages will be able to make custom rims for you or adjust the rims you already have.
The technician will check your design to make sure that it'll work for your car. That includes making sure measurements are correct and confirming that the design will be stable and fit your car without affecting its safety and performance, which is basically the most important thing you want to consider. Usually, some alterations to your cool designs will need to be made. Still, if you did your research and follow the instructions, you'll be ready to go.
The lathe operator will then program your design into the CNC lathe and insert a blank aluminum rim. The computer will cut out your design automatically. Your rims will need to be coated in chrome before they can be mounted on your tires and put on your car. Then boom! You've got custom rims. You are ready to tear up the streets!
Wait, but how much does it cost to get custom rims?
Here's a little price range breakdown of the common elements of custom rims for your convenience. These prices are the cost per rim. Keep in mind, the price to cut your rim varies depending on how detailed your design is and the quality of the materials used. For example, larger rims will be more expensive.
Cutting the rims $90-$1000
Chrome finish $150 to $290
Installation $20-$40
Painting $20-$40

Is neon underglow legal in Louisiana? Louisiana law does not prohibit using additional vehicle lighting which would include neon underglow. Therefore it’s our conclusion that in Louisiana neon underglow is not illegal, as long as you avoid the following restrictions:
Blue-colored lights are illegal Flashing lights are not permitted. Using neon lights of any color except white near license plate is not allowed. Red or green light must not be visible from the front of the car. Do not display any combination of white, red, and blue colored lights. There are no relevant LA laws which specifically restrict or prohibit installing car underglow, meaning we consider it legal to use it while driving.
If your undercarriage lights are able to change color and in case you’re stopped by a police officer do not tell them you can change colors, particularly to blue: equipping a vehicle with any aftermarket lighting capable of emitting blue color is illegal.
